# Close

> Undo part of a trade. Close from every period or one by one, by percent or by amount, and get the value back now.

Close undoes part of a trade. You give back some of your balance, from every period or from the ones you pick, and get its value back now, at today's prices.

Close is also how you **withdraw**: pick **Shares** and the value leaves to your wallet as sUSDS. To take out a flat amount at face value, pick **All** and **USDS**. The most you can take that way is the lowest point of your line.

![A close: red amounts taken from each period, green proceeds flat from Now](https://mintcdn.com/moment-0fa29e7e/5c4BULtyWxFid-gy/images/close.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5c4BULtyWxFid-gy\&q=85\&s=edc51c524b0d1fa58b33e1c86b5589cc)

Red is what you give back in each period. Green is what you get, flat from Now.

## The form

![The Close form: Moment or Shares, All or Per period, an amount in percent or USDS, and a list of periods with what each holds and what you close](https://mintcdn.com/moment-0fa29e7e/5c4BULtyWxFid-gy/images/close-form.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5c4BULtyWxFid-gy\&q=85\&s=974b6d198bcdde4e4979980ad7d156a6)

The Close form, here with Per period at 40% of every period.

You make three choices.

**1. Where the money goes**

| Pick | You get |
| - | - |
| **Moment** | It stays in your TimeBalance, as a flat amount from Now ("Now · flat to ∞"). |
| **Shares** (sUSDS) | It leaves to your wallet as sUSDS. The form shows the conversion, like "1 sUSDS ≈ 1.08 USDS". |

**2. Which periods**

| Pick | What it does |
| - | - |
| **All** | Takes the same from every period. |
| **Per period** | Lists every period with what it **holds**. Type a number at the top to set them all, then change any row. Leave a row empty to keep that period as it is. |

The line under the amount says how many periods you are paying from, like "Paying 4 of 4 periods". **Clear** resets them.

**3. Percent or a fixed amount**

Tap **%** or **USDS** next to the amount.

| | **%** | **USDS** (a fixed amount) |
| - | - | - |
| **All** | The same share of every period. 50% halves your line and keeps its shape. | The same amount from every period. It can't go above your smallest period; the form shows "lowest · highest" and a **Lowest** button. |
| **Per period** | A share of each period, row by row. | An amount for each period, row by row, up to what that period holds. |

Quick buttons: 25% / 50% / 75% / 100% when you use %.

## Steps

1. Open the market and pick **Close**.
2. Pick **Moment** or **Shares**.
3. Pick **All** or **Per period**.
4. Pick **%** or **USDS**, and type the amount (or set each row).
5. Check **You receive**.
6. **Review → Confirm**, then sign in your wallet.

## What you get back

You get what the closed part is **worth today**, not the sum of the red.

Most of the value sits in the period that runs to ∞. A short period only holds a few days of yield, so on its own it is worth little. For example, closing 300 from each of three short periods (900 in total) returns only about 1.5, while closing 100 from the period that runs to ∞ returns about 99.5. That is not a loss: it is what those pieces are worth today.

![Closing 900 spread over three short periods returns about 1.5; closing 100 from the period that runs to infinity returns about 99.5](https://mintcdn.com/moment-0fa29e7e/5c4BULtyWxFid-gy/images/close-value.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5c4BULtyWxFid-gy\&q=85\&s=3e955061dcdba5fda21b38391b6d454a)

The same idea in a picture: short periods hold little; the period to ∞ holds the coin.

## Good to know

* **Today's prices.** A close uses the market rates right now, not the rate you locked in. It can return more or less than holding to the end.
* **All or nothing.** A close across several periods either fills completely or not at all.
* **Fee.** Closing before the maturity is a Fixed or Leverage trade in reverse through the book, so it pays the same 0.5% taker fee. Let the position reach its maturity and there is no fee at all: a Fixed position has realised all its yield and is plain balance, and a Leverage window has run down to 0 with its yield already in your balance.
* **Slippage tolerance** shows in the form (0.5% by default). The **APR** section shows the rate used for each period.

## Example

You hold 1,300 in each of the three periods up to Nov 2, and 1,000 from Nov 2 to ∞. Pick **Shares**, **Per period**, **%**, and set **75%**. Every period gives up 75% of what it holds. The form shows ≈ 751.12 USDS worth today, which arrives as about 695.5 sUSDS in your wallet.
